After reports of Miguel Tejada promising an 8 year old boy with muscular dystrophy a home run in his next game, ESPN decided to investigate just how sick this child was, a day after Tejada delivered on his promise.

Calls were made by ESPN to the room of Jacob, where a recording stated, "[cough, cough] I'm sorry, I'm just too weak to get up to answer the door."
ESPN reporter Almando Salguiero traveled to the hospital where little Jacob Scott was in care, and right as he opened the door, he noticed something was off. A series of strings and pullies operated a "dummy" lying in the bed, with a stereo looping the simulation of snoring.

Salguiero and Chris Mortensen delved into the school records of this so-called
"sick child" and found that he had a major examination on identifying larvae and the pupa of butterflies that week. ESPN E:666-ty sat down with Miguel Tejada again to gain clarification into the situation:

ESPN: Miguel, did you know this boy, of whom you promised to hit a home run, really was faking sick?

Miguel Tejada: No. No. All Is do is play beisbol bro. I dont know nothing bout that. No.
