Kenny Phillips:
After losing S Gibril Wilson to FA, the Giants picked up Sammy Knight to help fill the vacancy. Kenny Phillips, a junior out of the University of Miami, will vie for the spot in the strong safety position. Many believe Phillips would have benefited by staying for his senior season, but he was rated as one of the top 2, if not best, safety in the draft, along with Tyrell Johnson out of Arkansas St.

Phillips enjoyed a great sophomore season, but in his junior year, his production on the field declined. Along with DE Calais Campbell, Phillips was unable to build on the success on the defensive side for the 'Canes, which many chalk up to the coaching changes in Miami.
