-Thursday night, I came home to find dad on the couch watching as Oregon was losing in the second quarter to Arizona. He then muttered the worst words any gambler could ever hear... "That's Ryan Leaf's brother at quarterback." My condolences to all of you who took the Ducks and the over. They lost the game, and the #2 ranking, but they also lost their best player for the rest of the season, Heisman-hopeful Dennis Dixon.
-Tim Tebow and his jorts all but wrapped up the Heisman on Saturday, as he became the only player ever to score 20 TDs both in passing and in rushing in NCAA history in the win against perennial powerhouse Florida Atlantic. He also has a new cell phone number, ladies.
-After starting the season in the worst way possible, Michigan head coach Lloyd Carr lead his team to a possible Rose Bowl birth if they were to beat OSU at home. Unfortunately, for the sixth time in seven years, Carr has failed to beat the Buckeyes. In Ann Arbor as well as in Columbus, that's all that matters for most fans and players, if not all. OSU RB Beenie Wells pulled a Biakabutuka, rushing for 220 yards on 39 carries, including 2 TDs.

-Moving on to the NFL, we will be lucky to see some hot crossbar action over and over again for the next two days on ESPN...
-While John Beck was trying to make everyone forget about Cleo Lemon, he actually made Miami fans yearn for Ray Lucas. In his debut, the Stormin' Mormon (c. Da Great White Hype), went 9 for 22 and 109 yards in their 17-7 loss to the Feeley-led Philadelphia Eagles. The Fins are now 0-10 and as long as the Pats hold up their end, we could have a 16-0 and an 0-16 team in the same division.
-Have the Vikings found a quarterback? Days after I bashed their receiving corps, WR Sidney Rice (who I must add was talked up by my friend Commodore Jim) went 2 for 2 in passing for 94 yards, including a bomb to former Giants TE Visanthe Shiancoe for 79 yards.
-Looks like Reggie got outplayed by Mario in the Battle of the 2006 Draft. The Houston DE had 3 tackles, 1 sack, and 1 forced fumble on that sack of Saints' QB Drew Brees. Saints RB Reggie Bush had 34 yards on 15 carries, but also had 70 yards of receiving while losing a fumble.
-The Giants moved to 7-3 on the season, holding on to defeat the Lions at home 16-10. Timely interceptions as well as bruising running by RB Brandon Jacobs helped carry Big Blue to victory. Unfortunately, the Giants came out of the game with some serious injuries.

LB/DE Mathias Kiwanuka left the game in the 1st quarter with a broken fibula (expected out for season) and Jacobs pulled a hammy (n/h) and had to leave the game in the 3rd. Jabobs' status for next week has yet to be determined. Eli had a pretty nice day, going 28 for 39 and 283 yards, and most importantly, no turnovers.
NCAA Player of the Week: Oklahoma St. QB Zac Robinson
In the Cowboys' 45-14 win over Baylor, sophomore Robinson threw for 345 yards, while scoring 4 touchdowns. He also ran for 144 yards, the third time he has done so this season.
NFL Player of the Week: Green Bay QB Brett Favre
In the Pack's 31-17 victory over the Carolina Panthers, he out-dueled Vinny Testaverde (who along with Favre remembers the sight of Brian Bosworth playing with his snap-bracelets on Seattle's sideline), throwing 3 TDs and 0 picks.
